IS PADMAVATI AT REAL RISK?
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati, which is currently messed up in a major controversy, was submitted to Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) last week but because it was not ‘completed’, the board sent the film back. Because of many disturbing and big protests against Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his film Padmavati which is been taking place in many parts of India mainly in Chittorgarh, the SLB, who is directing and producing the film along with Viacom, has decided to delay the release the film as it has not been certified still by CBFC. Seems like it is a real struggle for Bhansali?
The official statement from the makers ( Viacom 18 motion Pictures) along with Bhansali has created a gorgeous cinematic masterpiece in ‘Padmavati’ that shows the Rajput bravery, strength, dignity and tradition in all its glory. The film is a sensitive portrayal of a tale that will fill every Indian with joy and showcase our country’s storytelling skills.
We are responsible, law-abiding corporate citizen and have the highest respect and regard for the law of the land and all our institutions and statutory bodies including the CBFC. We always have and are committed to continue following the established procedure and convention. We have faith that we will soon obtain the requisite clearances to release the film. We stand firm in our commitment to tell endearing tales that we have in past like ‘TOILET’ Ek Prem Katha, Queen, Bhaag Milkha Bhag and many more.
According to Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom, had earlier assured that they will not postpone the film at any cost. But, it seems that the nationwide protests by the Rajput groups, damaging the cinema hall in Rajasthan, major protests in Jharkhand as well and the film’s delayed certification forced them to delay the release. It’s sad that they had to take the decision just 12 days before the film’s scheduled release date.
Also, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s recent video is trending where he has stated clearly that there is no scene between Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh (Rani Padmavati and Sultan Allaudin Khilji) which will hurt the sentiments of the Rajputs. He also requested in the video not to spread useless rumours regarding the movie.
Many other Artists have also commented that “it needs a lot of hard work, determination and money to make a movie.
Well, we will get to know that soon. According to Viacom, the release date will be announced soon.
